What a beautiful day it looks to be! Although very cold!
We have been planning lots for My Yarnery for 2019 and it's all very exciting!
Following popular trends and current market demands, we have been viewing various new potential stock as well as preparing to experiment with dying with a view to running workshops and also providing bespoke hand dyed yarn which will be exclusive to My Yarnery.
Here are some hanks of pure Alpaca wound off from a cone ready for dyeing, and this jar of homemade copper mordant is crystallising around the edges inside! It almost looks too beautiful to disturb!
These are some of our preparations in progress, but we still have lots of work to do, so don't expect anything too soon, but over the coming months we hope to be putting these ideas in to practice.
Since we opened, our main focus has been on knitting and crochet, and the majority of commercial yarns are designed with these activities in mind. However, we're hoping to bring in more items that'll be of interest to the weavers and dyers among you. Of course, you can weave with anything, but we're considering cones, finer yarns and un-dyed varieties too.
All this is not to neglect the knitting and crochet though! We have plenty of lovely yarns and patterns for this winter season:
Our model is now wearing this gorgeous pullover made using Adriafil Diletta yarn which is a blend of pure virgin wool, acrylic and nylon and has a chainette structure. The shades are dyed using a process which creates a slightly melange effect.
The pattern for this pullover is called 'Norilsk' and can be found in the current Autumn/Winter edition of Adriafil's Dritto & Rovescio No.65
We have started viewing now for next season too, so there will soon be beautiful new yarns and patterns in the pipeline to look forward to!
Happy New Year to you all!
