2019 has already been coined 'the year of the Vegan' and we are very pleased to be able to say that when planning our opening back in 2016, we took into account the demand for vegan suitable yarns, and made sure we had them available, enabling us to provide for the needs of as many different people's requirements as we possibly could.
Although synthetic yarns such as acrylic, nylon and polyester are all non-animal derived, it's not to say that the dyes used or any of the processing methods have not been tested on animals or contain any animal ingredients.
This also applies to the natural plant fibre yarns, cotton, bamboo, linen, hemp and various processed natural cellulose fibres which are known as semi-synthetic such a viscose, rayon and lyocell. Even though these fibres are more ecological, the manufacturing processes and dye used may or may not be Vegan friendly.
So, with all these factors to bear in mind, we are researching the yarns we supply in great detail so that when we create a listing, we can give you accurate information on the product enabling you to make your decision on what you'd like to buy more easily if you require it to be Vegan friendly.
Once we have definite confirmation from our suppliers and manufacturers regarding these issues, we will label all of the Vegan friendly yarns appropriately.
